Super Cub Specs

I scanned these images out of the Piper Super Cub Owners Manual. An owners manual is not approved by the FAA and is not kept current. It is often confused with the AFM (airplane flight manual) which is a document approved by the FAA for a specific type of aircraft. The information below is general, but it shows some basic facts regarding horse power, dimensions, fuel system, and type of structure, just to name a few.

My plane is a Piper (manufacturer), PA-18 Super Cub (model). Initially Piper built just the “Cub”, then they upgraded it to the “Super Cub”. The upgrade included a larger engine, flaps, and electrical system. There were a few prototype Super Cubs fitted with a little 95 hp engine. The 95 hp data is given under the PA-18-95 column. Under the PA-18-150 column you will find the performance data for the cub that I fly. My cub actually has an engine modification that bumps the horsepower to 160 so the numbers may not be exact. Super Cubs have also been fitted with engines producing 105 hp, 125 hp, 135 hp, and 180 hp.
