I took this picture of my favorite hanging glacier as I was flying over the Talkeetna Mountains yesterday. It’s a rather odd glacier because it hangs at about a 60 degree angle and is totally smooth. It’s only about 1300′ long but it looks like something from a different planet as it floats by out the window of the plane. I was up pretty high and the winds aloft were making it very difficult to make any headway. I was struggling to keep my ground speed up to 48 mph and the turbulence off these peaks was not the funnest thing I’ve ever flown through.
