I initially told these guys not to bother flying up from Telluride for a ski trip because the snow in the Chugach is no good this year. They said they were happy with a winter camping trip and they were coming to Alaska regardless. It’s a good thing they stuck to their guns and came anyway because the last two weather systems that passed through drastically improved things. I was stoked for these guys because the sun was shining, the snow was awesome, and there is more skiable terrain than they can conquer in the next 6 days. The back-country ski season has been slow this year because of the snow conditions, but things may pick up a bit now that the snow is improving.
