OK so, I bought a new plane early last week, and I just finished the annual inspection. I took her out last night for a bit of a test run and she is going to work really well. It’s a 1961 Cessna 185, and I think it will be an excellent addition to the Blue Ice Aviation tool belt. I took these photos near the Knik Glacier on a nice smooth mud flat that is really long. It was immediately apparent that she is no Super Cub, but I’m sure she has other strengths that we will soon learn about. So far, my favorite attribute is her speed. 140 mph is a lot of fun … it’s like stepping out of the old Toyota Tercel and into the Jaguar … a totally different beast.
So if anybody has a set of 31″ Bushwheels or Fluidyne 3600 hydraulic wheel skis (or if you know somebody who does) PLEASE give me a call, because I am in the market.
