Photo of the Day — Alaska’s High Alpine

Mike and I landed here to stretch our legs on a flight across the range. Behind me is a beautiful little lake/puddle (pictured above) and the approach to this strip is made right over its’ surface so that the disturbance of air makes ripples in the water. This would be a great spot to spend a few nights hiking around. High above any brush it is an awesome example of the high alpine hiking available in this area. I’m not going to lie … the water is cold, but as kids we used to make it a habit of swimming in these puddles just for fun. I love locations like these because it shows the true Alaska.
