I flew mom and dad down to Homer today in the new plane. The weather was awesome and I could not resist the good excuse for a flight. I have made this run several times in the Super Cub, which it is much fast than the 6 hour drive by car, but the 185 made the trip in just 50 minutes today. We had a scootin’ tailwind on the way down, and as you can see in the picture above, we were cruising at 175 mph. We got to homer and then took the boat across to Halibut Cove. It was a 23 foot tide today so the water was extremely high, everybody was thankful there were no waves. I hung out for a short time and then flew back home leaving Mom and Dad to enjoy the Cove without me. It is quite a splurge for us to just jump in the plane and fly for fun, but sometimes we’ve gotta do it. It was great to hang out with mom and dad, they’re the best.
