The Glenn Highway is route 1, and leads to route 2 which comes from the Canadian border and is known as the Alaska Highway. The great state of Alaska has 10 other designated “routes”, and you can read about them here. The Glenn Highway is the main road that connects Anchorage to “The Valley” and by far the longest 2 lane highway in the state. The 40 mile drive from Anchorage to “The Valley” is beautiful, but is often taken for granted as most of us are in a huge hurry to get from one location to the other. I flew all morning, and was headed home along the Glenn Highway when I realized I was commuting like everybody else, and took these photos to show a fresh perspective.
