Photo of the Day — Who Wants To Go Swimming?

It does not look real.  It looks like some plastic creation made with too much blue dye.  This is the broken surface of a large glacier in the Chugach Mountains.  The water is intensely blue like this in the Spring as the snow is melting.  By the time July rolls around much of the water has seeped through cracks in the ice.  Depth perception is difficult because of a lack of familiar items (trees, people, etc).  So, to give some perspective of size the largest bright blue puddle is about 100′ long.
This is one of my favorite pictures for sale, and you can visit the full “Blue Ice” gallery here.
