Photo of the Day — Using the Ice

We needed a new landing site on the ice for a job that we will be doing next week. So, I went out to do a little re-con work this afternoon. I have looked at this spot for landing in years past but the ice was so rough I never wanted to chance it. This year the ice is a bit smoother so I went for it and we now have a new ice strip. These ice strips change by the day so who knows how long it will last. From crevasse to crevasse it is 500 feet with one good bounce at the 400′ mark. Overall I am happy with the site but it is fairly rough and without the 35″ tires it would be really hard on equipment. You can see that winter is just up the hill from where I landed.
