As nice as this view is sometimes it’s just too high. On a day like this I have no excuse to get down low and look for moose antlers, landing sites, and game. Somebody is generally paying for these flights and they don’t take kindly to my driving around the range sight-seeing. I really love the views from up high but it’s a drag when you want to be down low, because most of the fun happens closer to the ground. I have most of our strips and destinations entered in my GPS as waypoints so if weather permits I am obligated to climb high and punch “direct to” and then follow the magenta line. It’s amazing how much time it saves. I’ve departed for a 1.5 hour flight and not returned for more than four hours because I had to muck all the way around a mountain range….those are the runs that get expensive. So I guess I am talking in circles because it really is better when the clouds are high but I sure love being down low.
