I mentioned yesterday that a “black cloud of death” rolled in. Well, it kept us grounded until 5:30 pm this afternoon. It poured rain like I have seldom seen on our mountain. The runway had a permanent stream running down the center of it, and visibility was reduced to less than 5 miles the entire day due to heavy rain. All of the mountain lakes and streams are running high, and the wind was blowing about 20 mph in certain isolated areas. We did finally slip out and get 5 people moved when it relented this evening. Although … I am currently sitting in my cabin listening to the rain fall steadily on the roof. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
I took this picture while crossing Klutina Lake about 3 hours ago. The leaves are so bright in some areas that you almost need sunglasses to prevent eyeball damage.
