The mud-flats near Beluga.
In “The Narrows”, Lake Clark Pass.
Almost home Saturday night.
Flying with my friend Nicole.
A stiff breeze over the village of Kokhanok, on Iliamna Lake.
131 mph in a cub is like doing 131 mph in a 1989 Ford Tempo…pretty impressive tailwind.
I spent 6 days in King Salmon last week. I was trying to do some work for the National Park Service but Alaska had different ideas. If it was not blowing 30+ it was foggy and rainy. We were only able to accomplish a tiny fraction of what we had hoped. When I finally departed King Salmon on Saturday it was 20 gusts 30 knots and I had to fight 50+ just to get to the Alaska Range. Even though we did not get much flying accomplished I still had a great time hanging out with friends and eating at Eddies. Here are a couple of photos from the flights to and from South West Alaska.
