Nothing beats high glacier country in the middle of summer. Isn’t that an amazing view ! I see this view often, and the picture still gets me excited. Just over those mountains (un-named Chugach peaks) and down the other side is Prince William Sound, the hub for marine glacial tours. Sheep Mt. (where I am based) is a mere 30 minute flight to salt water.
Just 100 yards to the north of us is a 4000′ vertical drop that will… literally take you breath away. I have heard grown men scream as the plane goes from an altitude of a couple feet to 4000 feet in the blink of an eye. One of the fantastic aspects of a Super Cub is that the passenger can see so well out both sides of the plane. If the passenger is really serious about photography it is not uncommon to open a window or door so that pictures can be taken without the interference of the plexi-glass. I only open the door if the passenger requests it :o)
This is a close friend of ours that came up for my cousins wedding. We spent 15 minutes walking around and taking pictures, it was a great day for it. Even at 9500′ its totally comfortable in a t-shirt as long as that sun is out. I have actually played a round of golf from this position, but that is another story for another day.
