Photo of the Day — APU Re-Ration

APU is doing their annual hike from the Glenn Hwy near Eureka, to the train tracks near the Big Susitna River.  It’s a hike of more than 130 miles, and not a walk for tender feet or weak lungs.  They will receive two re-rations from us via Super Cub during their trek through the Talkeetna Mountains, and it’s always a joy to see their hungry faces waiting for the plane to arrive.  We were scheduled to deliver their groceries first thing in the morning but weather kept us from arriving until late afternoon.  The fog has been hanging low in the valleys for the past week, and it has made scheduling a challenge.  We’ve been able to fly everyday, but only after the sun has done the hard work of drying up the fog.
