Photo of the Day — Dealing with Weather

Earlier today I posted the current weather conditions for this area. I was waiting to get up on the glacier to pick up some of our clients but the weather was not cooperating. I was finally able to reach them at 3:15 this afternoon (they were scheduled for pickup yesterday morning). The clouds had lifted and visibility had improved to the extent that I made an attempt. The photo above shows the drastically improved light conditions and visibility. When clouds dampen the light it makes it impossible to detect depth perception and texture of the landing surface. Our clients had marked the runway well with black garbage bags so I could tell where the ground was, which is very helpful when landing. I got all four skiers out, and I was thankful for the weather window because conditions were worsening when I left.
