I took this picture yesterday morning at the Palmer airport. I got a full day of flying yesterday and it felt great. December and January are typically very slow for us and that’s OK, It’s a good chance for me to work on the planes, and the unfinished house.
The weather has been less than agreeable for the past week, and I was happy to see the break in the clouds yesterday morning. We were airborne immediately and spent the entire day circling the peaks. As we worked through the 1 o’clock hour the clouds began descending on the mountains, fog formed on the valley floors, and visibility decreased slightly. We finished the days work, and headed back for Palmer. When we got back to town the ceiling had come down from 8000′ to 2000′. I landed, and then hangared and unloaded the plane. When I walked outside it had started snowing. 20 minutes later it was snowing really hard, and the ceiling had come down significantly. I was outside working until 10 PM last night and it was still snowing when I quit.
The forecast for Palmer had shown lower ceilings and snow for 6 PM … I guess it showed up 3 hours early. Like they say, it’s better to be lucky than good :o)
