Sorry for the long delay in photo additions to the blog. It’s been a busy month. I spent 2.5 weeks in Western Alaska on a flying job and then returned home and moved from our winter base of operation up to our summer base at Sheep Mountain. An internet connection is not always the easiest thing to come by when you are moving all the time. It’s been a good month but the weather during the last week has been foul at best. Today we were able to get out and get some flying done and the sky is finally blue. I am stoked about the Summer season and I will try to keep the photos coming. The next 6 photos were taken in the past 12 hours.
It was grim looking this morning, but we were finally able to launch with the wheel ski plane and ration a mountaineering team that had been stuck in a storm for several days.
Climbing out of 9500′ heading for the glacier, after weaving my way through some big blue holes. My fingers nearly got frost-bit with my arm hanging out like this :o)
The snow was fresh and soft and the temperature at 4500′ was very mild.
They had eaten most of their reserves and they were starting to get hungry so they were VERY thankful for the break in the weather.
With more snow this Spring than in recent years, many of our airstrips are still partially covered with snow and others are still completely white.
You can see the three bears in the bottom of the canyon. I took this on my way home this evening.
