I don’t even pretend to understand how a fossil is made, but I sure do enjoy looking for them. I recently discovered an area that is absolutely loaded with ammonites, clams, shells, petrified wood, and leaves. I took these photos (and many more) during an hour and half fossil hunt. These are very close friends of mine that have lived in Alaska for decades, and all three of us were like little school kids running around on the playground looking for easter eggs. Don’t even bother asking me where this spot is at because I won’t tell :o)
