Photo of the Day — Headed for Town

We live at Sheep Mountain in the Summer and in Wasilla in the Winter. Both of these communities are on the road system and separated by approximately 60 miles on the Glenn Hwy. There are no stores or anything up at Sheep Mountain so whenever we run out of milk, eggs, or frosted mini-wheats we fly to town. I have not driven the highway in two years because I always take the Cub. I end up in town with the plane on a fairly regular basis and it makes life easy. This picture was taken on a trip to town coming off the mountain. The Matanuska River is below me and the Glenn Highway is running along it’s bank. It is a beautiful flight and an equally beautiful drive. Sheep Mountain is only 100 miles North of Anchorage, and it’s one of the most scenic roads in the state. If you are ever in the area you ought to come check us out.
