Photo of the Day — Foggy Alaskan Mountains

The clouds won’t give up this summer. I woke up to zero zero this morning, in fact, we could barely see across the runway, and nobody in the family even mentioned the fog because it simply looked like every other morning. Costal towns would not think this odd perhaps, but at Sheep Mt. we are not generally plagued by fog. It will typically burn off or blow away by 10 am so I really cannot complain because I have earned several additional hours of sleep due to conditions unsuitable for flight. My Super Cub has no instrumentation for flight in the clouds, because I DO NOT fly in them. When it’s foggy the “go/no go” decision is really easy because it’s a no brainer … we ain’t flyin’.

I took this photo today as I was flying down the Talkeetna River. We will see what tomorrow brings.
