My friends often ask, “How did you learn to take such amazing pictures?” I don′t know anything about taking pictures, I am just continuously surrounded by the beauty of God′s creation. Everywhere I look is something new and amazing to photograph. The vertical rock and ice is an image that continues to strike me as “unbelievable”. I almost don’t believe it is real when I fly by … it′s too much. It is so extreme and untouchable, I love it, the only thing I love more is showing it to people who have never seen anything like it. If you have a passion for capturing beauty with your camera please come for a flight. I really enjoy photography, so it is fun to work with people who share the passion. I am a pretty flexible dude, and I will do everything I can to help you accomplish your goals during the flight.
If you want great images of glacier country we will likely fly up the Matanuska glacier and across the ice capped peaks at 10,000 feet. We can then go check out an ice-berg lake and look for some wildlife along the way. We can land on the glacier and take some images from the ground before heading home. Another option is to head into the Talkeetna Mountains and find the Nelchina Caribou herd. It′s not uncommon to see 5000 head of Caribou in one small area just minutes from our house. It is likely that we could photograph glacier country, land on a glacier, and photograph the Caribou all in just an hour flight. Trips like these only cost $250. Sometimes I will climb up to 8000′ in order to view Mt. Mckinley looming in the distance. On a clear day we can see the Alaska Range the Wrangell Mts. as well as the Chugach and Talkeena mountains, that is 4 of Alaska′s 5 major mountain ranges. The ice capped peaks in our vicinity are closer, more accessible and every bit as awe inspiring as anything in the Alaska Range including Denali
I have done a fair bit of traveling, and I know what it is like to take the advise of a guide book only to be disappointed by an anti-climactic attraction combined with massive crowds of other tourists. Denali National Park is an amazing piece of Alaska but be prepared for hoards of people, extremely high prices, and a fogged-in mountain. You can catch a plane out of Talkeetna to take a flight tour of Denali. Talkeetna is 115 Miles North of Anchorage Parks Highway. We are located 100 miles Northeast of Anchorage on the Glenn Hwy. The drive to Talkeetna is through flat tundra and black spruce. The drive to Sheep Mt. is actually established as a scenic byway because of the breathtaking views of snow capped peaks.
But if you are looking for an “off the beaten path” authentic Alaskan experience with a small reputable air taxi interested only in fulfilling your desires, then Sheep Mt. is for you.
